If you're a frontend developer, you're always looking to learn and stay updated with web dev news.

The fast-paced industry makes it essential, especially when it comes to JavaScript.

Spending all day (and/or night) in front of a screen sometimes calls for a break. But stepping away from your computer doesn’t mean you can’t keep learning - if you're in a learning mood!

It’s 2021, and top-notch podcasts are always a few taps or a shout to voice assistant away!

The medium has probably reached peak mainstream appeal, thus multiplying listening options in the last few years. Even Barack Obama launched his own podcast.

Plus, podcast audio format lets you optimize time spent exercising, commuting, or cleaning up.

Now the tricky part is, you guessed it, finding the right ones.

This article was first published in 2020, and the good news is that I made a brand new curated list of the best JavaScript podcasts for 2021.

Not much has changed since last year, except maybe that Spotify is arguably becoming the biggest player in the podcasting world.

So, I discarded all of the dead or sunsetted ones, then hand-picked and sorted through the rest.

The result? A fresh list of JavaScript-related podcasts you’ll draw value from.

Let’s get to it.

How these podcasts were selected

You’ll find all our best JavaScript podcasts for 2021 below. But first, here's how I built this list.

Podcast selection

  • Podcast must be still running (at least one new episode in 2021).
  • Podcast doesn’t have to be strictly JS-related but should cover JavaScript regularly.
  • Podcast must have social proof (Google/Apple Podcasts rankings, featured in publications, personally recommended by seasoned developers).

List methodology

  • Ratings and stars are fetched from Apple Podcasts directly.
  • Description is fetched either from Apple Podcasts or the official site.
  • Featured episode must talk about JavaScript and be relevant to web development.
  • Podcast platforms linked to, when available, are Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

Contribution: The more the merrier! We are happy to take requests to add new relevant shows or podcast platforms. Just add a comment below.
