@jobber, we have a two-week general onboarding to the company as a whole before we onboard officially with our team.

During the general onboarding, every team/department has created learning materials about what we do and how it all fits together. There are also fun activities like scavenger hunts to meet people and find information! We also sit with the sales team for a day.

For the second week, every single new employee regardless of their destination team or their position sits with our success team and answers support chats! All the onboarding staff sit with a success team member in a group so answers to customer questions can be group-sourced and we learn from each other about the software, common client issues, we get to use the desktop software, and we get a lot of insight into how people use our software.

I found the experience invaluable and because all onboarding staff are taken through the process together (and because we were hiring a lot) you get to meet people on other teams and work with them for two weeks; forging inter-team bonds!

When you finish your general onboarding; you begin your team onboarding. Jobber very much values your input during your onboarding time because you are seeing things with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective. You are encouraged to ask questions and speak up if you identify something that can be improved.

We also have a Slack bot that will help you randomly select someone from the company to go have coffee with; company's treat. This helps you meet people outside of your silo.
