Nowadays we are not limited to 80 character long punch card or terminals, but respecting a column guideline makes it so much nicer to read code (no vertical scrolling). 120 is the magic number for me.
Pretty much every decent editor features it however, Visual Studio doesn't, and sadly for the longest time:
Thankfully, there's a little extension just for that. After installing it, just right click on the editor to use it:
