Hi @saqibameen
, I tried this addon for a few hours.
The video on the landing page is excellent. UI is wonderful. Clearly, UI and UX have been given a lot of thought and care.
Alas, I had to remove the addon after the test drive. Your addon hijacks the new tab, which is probably fine for most users. But for someone like me, it only increases information overload.
Say, I am working on a spring, and have to meet the deadline. I open a new tab to type in a query. The last thing I need at this moment is a distraction. But the new tab becomes a distraction because of all the articles it displays.
If it were possible to access your service without the addon, it would let users like me visit it when we have downtime.
Thank you for your feedback. First, it's a "new tab" extension, it is supposed to work this way β provide the news in an accessible manner and in a way that is passively consumable. Helping the developers to save effort and time in searching for news.
Regarding the distraction part, we totally get that. Sometimes it happens. That's why we have built a Do Not Disturb Mode. You can turn it on while you work.
Again, thank you for your feedback. If you have any other concerns, feel free to reach out.

Of course. It is obvious.
I intended to suggest (request) a UI that does not depend on the "new tab"βfor example, showing the list only when the user clicks on the addon button, or to host the list at a web address and do away with the addon.

Unfortunately, we are not planning for that. Our current focus is the extension only so that users can consume the news effortlessly.
We understand your concern, that's why we have DND mode.
Thank you Saqib. I appreciate the clarification.
Thank you for reaching back. I will try the DND mode.
