I'm reminded of a 3-page code type-in from a computer magazine in the 1980s (it was even featured on the cover) which sped up my Amstrad CPC and unlocked some extra instructions and RAM. A lot of DATA statements in it. Very surprising result!

I learned a lot that weekend :-)

I remember trying this for the first time on a shared PDP11 in Uni back in the 80s... did I get some stick from the CS department for leaking their secret sauce ;)
