I've been using it for years for my own notes, and it's fantastic. Very easy to use, and rich feature set.
After quick tests, the free version of Squid have less features than Samsung notes.
If it could be interested, I'll do an article with Samsung notes features and usages.

Another option is MS OneNote. It looks like it could potentially have more features than Samsung notes. But I have never tried Samsung Notes.
