Introduction:
Hey Dev.to community! π Are you thinking about making your own website but not sure where to start? No worries! In this post, I want to show you six fantastic web developer portfolios that inspired me when I was building mine. These sites are like a treasure chest of ideas to help you get creative with your own portfolio.
Learning from Others
If you're a web developer, it's really helpful to look at what other people have done before making your own website. Before jumping into creating your space online, it's like taking a tour of a gallery full of ideas. Each portfolio tells a unique story about skills, projects, and personal style.
My Journey of Ideas
When I was making my portfolio, I found a lot of help and inspiration by checking out other developers' portfolios. These websites were like virtual mentors, showing me how to organize my work, design my page, and share my projects. They were the foundation of my own creative process.

Smart Move: Explore Before You Start

Building My Portfolio Website
When I was creating my portfolio, I didn't start from scratch. I borrowed some gOOD ideas from other developer portfolios I liked. If there was something I really liked, I tried to make my own version, adding my personal touch.
Conclusion: Let Inspiration Be Your Guide
So, fellow developers, before you begin building your web developer portfolio, take a look at these awesome examples. Let the creativity of others inspire and guide you as you create a space that truly represents you.

"Yeah, it looks really cool. I am pretty bad with all these frontend design fancy things, so Jekyll is still working fine for me -> wannahack.in
The only reason for me to build my own site from scratch is to use a some Rust framework and deliver site with webasm just for fun experience and as a nice learning project :D
Your site has a really cool vibeβππ I appreciate the simplicity and the neat color combination in your skill section! And Your idea of using a Rust framework and delivering the site with WebAssembly sounds like a fantastic learning project.
Happy coding! π
It is really cool, I like the simple design but with some fancy things. π
I like your recommendations but I really need to say that I don't like your portfolio website. It totally hurts my eyes. It's hard to read the contrast is everything but not good. You have a lot of distractions both visually with effects and hovers and the background animation and practically no guidance for the eye.
Sorry to be that direct but I think you really need to rework your portfolio site and think about contrast, guidance and clarity.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I appreciate your honest feedback! & I'm sorry to hear that the design doesn't suit your preferences. I totally understand that everyone has their own taste when it comes to design. By the way, have you also checked out my website with dark mode??
Nice recommendations you've got here. I believe it won't hurt to consider what @spotnick mentioned tho. Your recruiters or clients also have their own taste. You wouldn't want any recruiters squinting at your portfolio now, will you? I do prefer the dark mode though. But until I viewed your comment, I hadn't bothered checking for a dark mode. Now this is just my own suggestion and in the end, it's all up to you to consider or not. Uhmm you can also call it my honest feedback. Haha. Thanks for the article btw.

By the way, your site is awesome! π One suggestion I'd love to share is adding a production link alongside the GitHub repo in your project section. It gives visitors a quick way to visit your projects .
