I’m worried my job is not meaningful? Am I just cranking out code for “the man”? What can I do to get more meaning out of my job?
We can work to make software development more meaningful by figuring out how to work with meaning in code.
We can write code that has meaning embedded in it. Meaning is related to importance. Importance is related to priority. Whenever you assign different priorities to things in code you are working with meaning in code. When we get good enough at that meaning will seep out of the technology into our assignments. Then we will have meaningful work.
