Launching a New Site, Should I Bother With Google Analytics?

If you want accurate stats then you should use a custom backend solution. As more and more people surf with adblockers these days, the efficacy of GA is diminishing. Having said that, if its just a blog-site and you aren't too concerned about the accuracy, then you can give it a try.

But also consider your blogging platform's own options. Blogger.com, for instance, provides you a built in stats which are detailed and much compact unlike GA. Similarly, in Wordpress, there are a bunch of plugins which provide you stats on the admin page.

I was thinking about implementing Fathom. But I think I may start with GA just so I don't have to delay while getting Fathom set up.
