ServBay Note: MariaDB Patch

To all users who have installed MariaDB versions 10.11.8, 11.0.6, 11.1.5, 11.2.4, 11.4.2, 11.5.1, or 11.6.0:

Due to a critical bug in MariaDB (https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-34422), users with these versions may face issues where the MariaDB service cannot start properly, potentially causing database corruption and data loss.

The MariaDB team has already fixed this bug, and the fix will be included in the upcoming versions: 10.11.9, 11.1.6, 11.2.5, 11.4.3, 11.5.2, and 11.6.1. However, since it might take some time for these new versions to be released and some versions will not receive this update, ServBay has applied the latest patch to MariaDB versions 10.11.8, 11.0.6, 11.1.5, 11.2.4, 11.4.2, 11.5.1, and 11.6.0 to resolve this issue.

Please note that since the database may already be corrupted due to using a buggy version, you will need to manually repair the database or delete and recreate it in order to use the patched version properly. Additionally, there is another bug (MDEV-34077, MDEV-34676) in mariadbd for versions 11.2.4, 11.1.5, 11.0.6, and 10.11.8 that has not been completely fixed.

This bug causes the error ‘Error in my_thread_global_end(): 1 threads didn’t exit’ during mariadb-install-db and prevents mariadbd from exiting completely ([Warning] Signal handler thread did not exit in a timely manner. Continuing to wait for it to stop.).

Until this issue is fully resolved, we strongly recommend users avoid these versions. All ServBay users with these versions installed should go to the ‘Services’ panel in ServBay, uninstall the currently installed version, and then reinstall it.

This process will download and install the latest patched version, addressing the bug. If you have any questions, please join our Discord or Telegram groups for discussion.
