A project you like and that is ready to help new (especially first-time) contributors. You’ll know that if:

  • they have a “Contributing” page that explains what they expect the process to be like and the scope of a PR, and/or
  • there’s a vibrant community (Discord, for example) where you see first-time contributors’ questions answered patiently, and/or
  • they have a label “good first issue” on their GitHub issues :)

My reasoning here is that I f a community is welcoming and supportive of beginners, it’s also supportive of folks with more experience.

I’m pretty sold on SolidJS in this regard.

SolidJS is definitely a good example. This community is one of the most welcoming, inclusive and positive ones I had ever the luck to encounter. Also the library itself is really awesome.
