This is also a really interesting area to think about. I agree that traditional computing will never match the power and efficiency of an organic brain. But even if we wanted to, there are many questions that pop up. Is it useful to simulate the human brain? Since we've evolved to think in a way that's beneficial to our physical form, does it make sense for a machine? Perhaps a "self-aware" computer will evolve in a way we couldn't even comprehend. This whole idea is so complex and interesting - could talk about it for hours.
That's what my one friend said to me, would it even be useful? We wouldn't know what it would manifest as a self aware, well form or entity. Lol and that is part of the danger. If it were ever achieved that is.. We will never stop trying to get to that point, in a machine state. We are too curious, not to see what we would create.. Bloody humans. HaHa! ;-P
