A few weeks ago I head a problem with my applications where whenever I changed a setting they were not saving, or the settings had just reverted to their default. My VSCode, ZSH, mechanical keyboard settings had all gone.
After hours I managed to figure out the issue and I've created a video below to show how I did it.
