Am I missing something

So I had this interview over the weekend on Angular and I got asked the below question "How does the component class connects to template file and how it binds its data to its elements? " This seemed like a generic question on how the data binding happens and how we can use the template or template URL property in the component metadata to let Angular know that this template belongs to the component class. But it felt like the interviewer was not happy with the answer and he was hovering over the same concept. What was I missing and what should have been my answer. Any insights would help , Thanks !
