Hi there, I'm Qiwen Yu!
I am a programmer that is fairly new to the computer science field. I was a business student and studied business for three years. However, I was not happy at that time. My parents always said that business is the most suitable program for a girl to study, so following their wish, I continued studying in business for three years.
I was questioning myself a lot back then, thinking about all the possibilities I can choose for my further career. Then I chose to start learning Programming.
I believe programming is actually a field that requires imagination and creativity. There are tons of open source projects are developing everyday. As a beginner, I think contributing to open source is a great way to get real-world software development experience and would help me gain a much deeper knowledge about the software. That's why I chose to take the open source development course. I believe this course can give me a really good guidance and lead me to the open source developing area.
I am now in Toronto and working from home everyday.
In this term, I hope to be a contributor to an open source project. Ideally, I hope it would be a well-known open source project. I want to work on the projects that I have used before or the projects I use in daily work, such as Selenium, and Pandas.
One of the Github trending I found it interesting is a automated cryptocurrency trading bot project and here is the
link to it.
I am interested in this project is because cryptocurrencies are now a form of DeFi(decentralized finance). DeFi is rising quickly because it tends to be more secure, more transparent, and more efficient alternative to traditional financial services. Moreover, DeFi also takes away the pressure of depending on institutions for oversight, data storage, server space, and other factors. It is fun to learn cryptocurrencies' behaviour and market trending though this project.
