I am just trying to distribute my Apps without play store.

Hey,

I am a web developer and Android developer. I have developed my first app for Android and I’m now trying to find some good alternatives to increase my user reach. I found some promising options, such as:

Amazon Appstore
Aptoide
Aurora Store
However, I’m confused about which one to choose for consistency, or if there’s another way to go about this. Can we distribute our apps through our own website?

Google Play Store has been adding restrictions and difficult policies, such as those for closed testing. If you know of any other platforms or have suggestions, please help me reach out.

Hey man! You should look into using zap.store. It's very early but the goal is to give power back to the developers and the users in an uncensored manner. Please check it out. It's built on the Nostr protocol.

Amazon Appstore

I don't have any experience with it.

Aptoide

Full of malware.

Aurora store

Its just an alternative play store front-end, so people who don't have play services can get apps from the play store.

Here are some other alternatives:

  • Galaxy store
  • Huawei Appgallery
  • F-Droid

If your app is open source, you could get it published to the main repo, if not, you could look into publishing to a third party repo, or hosting your own.

  • zap.store

Early days for this one, but many people are excited to see it succeed. You may get some traffic on your app simply because you published here, though the publishing process is still a bit unclear.
