I got my first DevOps engineering job in a DeFi space. To be effective I had to learn Blockchain technology.
Here are 7 steps I followed to master it within 3 months:
Blockchain is a complex and evolving technology, and it is important to start by learning the basics, such as what blockchain is, how it works, and what it is used for. This will provide a foundation for learning more advanced concepts.
Blockchain relies on a number of key concepts & technologies, such as distributed ledgers, consensus algorithms & cryptography. It is important to understand them for understanding how blockchain works and what it is used for.
There are various blockchain platforms & networks, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum & Hyperledger. Each platform has its own features, capabilities & limitations & it is important to learn them to use blockchain effectively.
It is one of the best ways to learn about blockchain. This can involve building and deploying blockchain applications, experimenting with different blockchain platforms, and working on real-world projects.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will need to understand how to integrate blockchain with other technologies, cloud platforms, databases & applications. It requires knowledge of different APIs, protocols & tools.
Blockchain is not a silver bullet and it is important to understand the challenges and limitations of the technology. This will help you to determine when and how to use blockchain effectively & avoid common pitfalls.
Blockchain is a rapidly evolving field and it can be helpful to join a community or network of blockchain enthusiasts in order to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and to learn from others.
Overall, mastering blockchain as a DevOps engineer will require you to get your hands dirty.
I hope these steps can help you gain the knowledge & skills needed to effectively use blockchain in your work.
