According to Gartner the average low-code software developer is 10 times more productive than a traditional software developer, and during 2024 Low-Code will be responsible for 65% of every single software project delivered. This creates a couple of interesting questions, best explained by imagining hiring Magnus Carlsen, the world's best chess player. Magnus would probably want 1 million dollars to simply meet up, while StockFish would come for free. StockFish of course, would demolish Magnus, easily, without even breaking a sweat. Similar things are occurring in the software development industry these days, due to automation, allowing for computers to outperform human beings, also on software development.

In the video below, I am creating a full stack web application in some 5 minutes, wrapping my database of choice. You can try the app here. Login with admin / admin.

The application features Continues Integration and Continues Deployment (CI/CD). It automatically deploys changes to your cloudlet when changes are pushed to GitHub. The app is served through a CDN implying its blistering fast, regardless of where in the world you access it from. The app is super optimised, and probably performs 10x better than anything most developers could manually build, regardless of programming language or platform. And most importantly, it is low-code - Implying you can modify it at your heart's desire, to accommodate whatever needs you may have in regards to business logic.

In fact the only thing that separates the above project with every single project you've ever seen before in your life, are the following traits.

  • It performs 10x better
  • It is 10x more secure
  • It has more stable and faster pipelines than most of your own projects
  • It's possible to host for €6 per month, instead of €250
  • ... and it was built in 2 seconds, instead of 2 months!

In fact, due to the way Aista Magic Cloud is optimised in regards to performance, it could even be argued the system is "green technology", since each cloudlet is more or less running on "dust" compared to most of your hand mad solutions, requiring gigabytes of memory, multiple CPUs, etc ...

Ignoring the above traits are madness for anybody having budgeting responsibilities. The costs for creating the above app is basically 5% of anything else out there, regardless of where you look, and there is no difference between the above app, and anything you could have the world's best software developer manually build - Assuming you want a back office administration and data gathering app of course. Use cases might be:

  • CRM systems
  • Logistic systems
  • Inventory systems
  • Headless CMS systems
  • Data gathering systems

Basically any place you'd typically start out with Excel initially, and move onwards to a real software system over time. In fact it could be argued that the system allows you to "port your Excel files to the web in minutes".

Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself, I guess I'm just jazzed up because of our recent new release of Magic. If you want to try it out, you can follow the bread crumbs below.

At the end of the day, it's a question of how to best utilise your money. I know it, you know it, your CEO knows it, and now everybody else knows it. No reasons to hire Magnus Carlsen, when you can get something 10 times better for 0.00001% of the price ... ;)
