Which is your favourite static website generator?

Static websites are becoming more and more popular. This is because of its speed. Sites are generated in build-time. It offers high level of security because these aren't CMS based sites. The development workflow is really simple without backend and any database connections.
You can find a list of these tools here: https://www.staticgen.com/

Which is your favourite and why?

I'm using hugo for my blog and I've been pretty happy with it. I haven't tried too many other static site generators, but I really appreciate how smooth the workflow is once you get going with it. It's got some quirks (like any other technology), but they're pretty easy to overcome.

Currently I'm using Zola for my personal blog. It's my favorite because its the only one I've tried. It does have some nice features:

  • It's a single binary (no complex install instructions)
  • Strong focus on markdown content
  • Basic support for internationalization
  • Nice syntax highlight for code blocks
  • Supports Sass and has a development server.
  • It has something like liquid tags, they call it shortcodes.

It's basically all I need right now.
