Great story! So, you started out in a "dev" type roll, and then ended being an all-powerful "Designer" instead. How do you feel about that? It sounds great! You soaked up everything very smoothly. A lot of developers would just throw their hands in the air and say "I'm just the coder."
In corporate software development it's like that indeed - for example: I won't do the test code if there's a team at the company to write the test code. But as a freelancer at a small company the borders of these roles are a bit blurred :D
