I wish I don't have to comment about this, but in Dev.to search bar, there is no option to sort by date, and it is hard to find what I am looking for, like old posts.

Yes I agree. We had a big regression in search relevancy after we switched engines and we haven't gotten that worked out yet—so the initial results just aren't super relevant. And then we need to add the filtering, as you're describing, to help ensure you can find what you're looking for when you know what you're looking for.
An Advanced Search Page will definitely be useful.
Current queries are of form
https://dev.to/search?q=QUERY&filters=class_name:Article, should be possible to expose an unofficial API where we can add further sort and filter parameters like time, exclude/include certain tags, etc
