GitHub Sponsors now allows one-time and customizable donations! πŸŽ‰

As you may have seen, GitHub made GitHub Sponsors in 2019 to fund Open Source developers for their work. Something I (and many other people) have been waiting for: GitHub now supports one-time and customizable donations for your sponsors!

How do I configure one-time donations?

If you are already participating in GitHub Sponsors, it's time to set up one-time donations! This way, people will be encouraged to donate to you one time.

  1. Go to GitHub.
  2. Click on your profile photo.
  3. Click on "Your Sponsors". image
  4. Click on the "Dashboard" button for your personal account (or your organization account).
  5. Click on "Sponsors tiers". image
  6. To add tiers for one-time donations, click on "one-time tiers". image
  7. Add a price, a description, publish it, and done! Now people can one-time donate to you. πŸ˜‰

How do I set customizable donations for my sponsors?

In order to enable custom amounts, follow the next steps:

  1. Go to GitHub.
  2. Click on your profile photo.
  3. Click on "Your Sponsors". image
  4. Click on the "Dashboard" button for your personal account (or your organization account).
  5. Click on "Sponsors tiers". image
  6. Check the following box. image
  7. You're all set: people will now be able to donate to you using one-time or monthly donations with a custom amount!
