What do you learn from a computer science degree versus learning programming on your own?

The degree course provides you with a lot of theoretical knowledge which includes but is not limited to hardware, mathematical logic, DSA, etcetera. Learning on your own gives you hands on experience with the tools that you use which may not be provided to you through your degree course.
