Whatever it is I'm working on, the first thing that I need to do is to know what my goal is. Then, I will map out something that I need to do to achieve my goal. I prefer to write it down in task management software since I can also get a birds' eye view of my progress. Also, prioritize your list! This is also important to stay focused on the important tasks first. I'd like to recommend Wrike and Quire.
