you may not have a choice !
it seems you need windows 10 build 18917 or higher to run WSL2 for example i dont have a choice because im running windows 10 ver 1809 build 17763 and windows 10 ver 1909 build 18323 asap

are there any advantages apart from (hyperv) speed by switching to wsl2 ?

WSL2 with docker on windows. I had to go for the insiders build to run it, but does the job do far 🙂
NICE but ONCE and only ONCE i made the mistake of installing insider on a non VM ! then i found out it is impos to revert back without reinstalling windows 10 :(
WSL1 seems fine to me ! but i do have an i7 with 16G RAM !
