bdougieyo profile image Brian Douglas Updated on ・1 min read

Restarting something Ben was doing for a while.

Open Source is about the community. Whether you have a project or just looking to make your first PR.

Tell us about your project

Promote your project by providing a link to the repo. Everyone who posted in previous weeks is welcome back this week, as always. 😄

The README is the front door of your project.
If you submit please make sure you have the following in your repo to make it helpful for others looking to contribute:

  1. README.md
  2. CONTRIBUTING.md

Finally, consider reading the Best Practices for Maintainers.

Happy coding!

PixiEditor is a lightweight Pixel art editor. The project has started in late 2017, I am building it since. A few months ago I released a beta version, which gained some attention and more people are working on it, I am super happy about it, but it is still far from the desired state! I have big plans for it and I need more people that could help a little and learn a lot in the process.

I am preparing it for this year's Hacktoberfest, so it's a friendly place for first-timers and advanced coders. The project is written in C# and WPF, however, we have plans to migrate to Avalonia before the next major version.

If you are interested I highly recommend joining our Discord :)

Avalonia? avaloniaui.net/?

That looks very interesting. Is there a demo for an application that runs on Linux?

Have you tried to use Avalonia under Linux (for a GUI application)?

There is a branch with part of application rewritten to Avalonia, but at the time I wrote it, framework lacked some functions, so I stopped. Therefore there is no demo. However I'll resume rewriting it some day soon.

If someone is interested in MATLAB, I made a Report Generator for MATLAB . It can easily generate a report in MS Word displaying headings, paragraphs, code, code output, Simulink models and Simulink outputs.

I am not as much interested in using MATLAB again but I think this project will be helpful for many. That's the reason I worked on it at all. So if any of you spend most of the time in MATLAB and have to generate reports. I would be happy to have you on this project.

But as a contributor, don't you need a license to MATLAB? Or are there some free/scaled-down versions of MATLAB?

First time hearing about this license. Do I need one?
I mean I didn't do changes to MATLAB, I just wrote code in MATLAB and sharing it via Github. Which normally many people are already doing. You can find people's MATLAB code on internet. I don't think it requires a license.

Twitchio.js is an npm package for interacting with Twitch and twitch related services like the Kraken and helix APIs, and the FFZand BTTV APIS. I just recently started working on it but I have big dreams for it to help people make twitch apps. I need more people that could help get it to that desired state and learn a lot in the process. Any issues and pull requests are welcome and greatly appreciated.

I'm actively searching contributors for my project: Gwion. It is a programming language, with some nice features, as generics, functions as first class citizens and more. Overall, it is aimed at making music, that's why I started this adventure in the first place (yes, I'm only a hobbyist dev, I make music for a living).

I already have a (small) github team, but I'd really like more input on that project.
There is a lot of different kind of contributions that could help, but the main need is technical writers, so that we can have a decent docs.

This project is intended to be my main digital helper in all the shows/compositions I'm gonna do (if they need it), so expect me to respond to any input.

This is cool. Do you have any examples of projects using this language?

Also love this link in the docs

You'll find the source here, Luke!

Thanks. I don't really have examples, I sometimes use it with my bands.
I should put together some code that has proven useful in my shows.
The Luke thing started because I did not find at first how to get the github icon/link in mdbook. But I think I'll keep both now, since I also like it.
Would you join the organization? As stated earlier, I need more inputs on this project.

At this time I don’t have bandwidth but hope others will take you up on the offer.

DisStreamChat is an open-source twitch chat client with discord integration that is designed to be easy to use, be very customizable, and look good as a chat overlay. Our team is small and we don't have all the time or expertise needed to get DisStreamChat to its desired state. We have big plans for it and we need more people that could help a little and learn a lot in the process.

We are trying to prepare it for the upcoming Hacktoberfest, so it's a friendly place for first-timers and advanced coders alike. The project is written in Node, React, and electron. It also uses firebase as the database. Any issues and pull requests are welcome and greatly appreciated.

If you are interested I highly recommend joining our Discord 😊

DisStreamChat Backend

This is the backend for the DisStreamChat application, it contains the discord and twitch bots that allow integration between a discord live chat channel and twitch chat, this allow users without twitch accounts or who prefer discord to chat with the streamer without making the streamer look at two chats. This codebase also stores the code for all the other features of the discord and twitch bots.

DisStreamChat is currently in early alpha, but you can add it at disstreamchat.com

Tinytown is a game/app hybrid that helps you build strong local communities by making it easy and fun to meet your neighbors. Think SimCity or Animal Crossing that you play with your neighbors. We're using React Native, Firebase, and the Twitter API to build an MVP that lets you share what's happening nearby, which we'll use as a foundation to build game mechanics on top of later on. We have a few contributors on the team but any additional help is appreciated.

ArkScript is a lisp inspired programming language with a lot of projects linked to it (benchmarks against other languages, standard library, plugins in C++, a package manager in Python, the VM in C++).

Our goal is to make a fast language for it to embedded in C++ projects (mainly games), and also have a nice small language for basic scripting

ForemJS is an opensource Forem API wrapper. It works with dev.to and should work with all Forem-based websites. I'd love to have developers to help improve the project and help cover more of the API. As of writing, less than 20% of the API is covered.
