When it comes to a good project management software, there's no perfect solution.
I myself prefer a project management software that does not have heavy features, instead, they offer OpenAPI for contributors and developers to integrate different apps with their platform.
Recently, Quire released their OpenAPI - in case you don't know, Quire is a completely free project management software designed for small teams - and I'm working on integrating my own humble time tracking app with their platform.
I'm very excited, however, it's very challenging since I'm just a junior dev.
