Experiment with Linux USBs

Hello Readers, recently I thought about installing Linux on a portable USB flash drive.

To carry out this experiment I chose 2 different devices:

  1. External SSD with USB 3.0 interface
  2. Sandisk Flash drive with USB 3.2 gen 1 Interface.

when I performed my experiment with SSD it worked great, but a bit sluggish when it came to running the browser.

So I thought to try this experiment with faster USB storage.
I thought USB 3.0 Speed was becoming a bottleneck for this OS.

So I bought a new flash drive with a fast usb3.2 gen 1 interface.

But, there was a catch. after this experiment, I realized that
Every USB Flash storage has limited read/write cycles.
which was not optimal to run a Full OS from a USB drive.

So, what's the solution?
well External SSDs, have more read/write cycles per second as compared to the USB flash Drives. so I'll try this same experiment with a faster and better SSD. and update this blog.

Q/A time!!
which Linux system I tried?
Rocky Linux 9.3

See yaa ✌️✌️✌️!
