My Intentions Behind SchoolConvers

SchoolConvers

Good Day, A Few Days Ago I wrote a Blog Post on this same platform discussing the technologies I used in my Side Project SchoolConvers. In this Blog Post I would discuss my intentions and the reason I created SchoolConvers.

The idea

21 May 2020, One Day Before My Birthday. I am Trying to Prepare for my test next week and I am super frustrated, I check every corner of the internet for simple answers, but, I found none. I would write e-mails to my friends(who don't even check their mail) but, no response. The next minute instead of studying I was writing done ideas for SchoolConvers. At that point I didn't even know what an IP Address is. I brainstormed so many ideas and then the next day I started getting my idea to life. I knew it was going to be hard to develop and market the app, because I am 14, and I am on a super tight budget.

Times I scrapped the idea

After a Month of Starting the Project, I had scrapped the idea three times. First and Second Version of SchoolConvers was written in Python and Ruby. The problem I had with these languages were that they are slow. I want my app to run lightning fast in places like Rural India or Rural China where you don't get the same internet speed like in Melbourne or Sydney or New York City. After scrapping the project two times, I re-coded the whole project in Javascript and then scrapped it again because of Type-Safety issues. At the end I settled for Typescript and the project is still in Typescript.

Final product

After months of research, learning and implementation, I completed the project on 28 November 2020 and deployed on 30 November 2020, exactly on the deadline. Then I released the project on ProductHunt, Capterra, GetApp, and 10 Words. The App Didn't Perform so well on any of these platforms, I forgot to mention I also tried to get funding on IndieGogo and GoFundMe, None of them worked. I was disappointed: I was not gaining any users, any upvotes and any type of funding. Then I released a Blog Post and gained 9 Users in 6 Hours. I was Happy but, then the spirit died out and now I am back to where I was before.

With SchoolConvers I expected all the users to have privacy, secure and encrypted communication and that they can expect more features every month from SchoolConvers. I spent nearly 70% of the time coding the security features of the application and laid out a nice privacy policy as well. Other than that I want Schools to actually use safe and secure software, interact more often outside of school and make the students feel that there is someone out there to help them.

SchoolConvers is still evolving and new features are added every second or third day and the platform is constantly moving to a more community approach with every single update and it is free. My aim has always been to promote safe internet for students, create internet communities, discuss questions and share your knowledge and this is the idea SchoolConvers is headed towards and is trying to achieve.
