This AM, I've been tuning into The Black Keys new album Dropout Boogie ...
lots of great songs here, but I'm gonna drop a link to "Good Love" because it features Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top on guitar. 🎸

Love The Black Keys! Didn't know Mr Gibson contributed to this one. Will give it a listen!

Oh heck yeah! It's a really fun album all around. And I think you'll enjoy that tune!

Also, I heard a pretty interesting interview with them talking about similarities between this album and Brothers that ya might dig:

It's incredible that they finished creating this most recent album in just 2 weeks. 🤯

Oh heck yeah!! This is so rad. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

I love the vocal samples ya chose here! Where'd you get these from?

Also I love the wandering lines on keys with the chords jumping in! The sparse drum beats (kick + rimshots) are sooooo perfect for what ya got going.

This is all just really atmospheric and interesting! I seriously dig it. Ya got my follow on SoundCloud! 😀

Hope to see ya drop more of your music in future threads.

Just been listening to the new Def Leppard album, Diamond Star Halos. Pretty classic Leppard sound to it. Kick and This Guitar are getting in my head. Next on my list is the new Liam Gallagher, that also dropped last week.

Dang, I nearly missed this message somehow.

I love some old school Beasties — Check Your Head was one of my faves!

And yes, Japanese jazz sounds right up my alley indeed. I'm gonna tune into this more thoroughly soon. Just gave it a brief sample though and it reminded me a bit of the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, which is most definitely a good thing! 😀

Haha! Well, I don't have anything particularly good recorded from the Tascam yet, but I'm working on it! Regardless, I will drop a beat for ya. 😀

Here's a sample-heavy beat I created on my OP-1 that's been sitting on my Google Drive for the past couple of months. I desperately need to create a SoundCloud to house all my music. Apologies that it's an aif file (which ya might need to download), that's how it comes when exported off the OP-1.

Also, note that the drum beat is sampled from a performance by my band. Unfortunately, I can't figure out which song it is right now, but here's a little video of my band's first and only concert just to give ya sense of what we're like:

I've had Katy Kirby's debut record Cool Dry Place on repeat for months now, and different songs have jumped out and hooked into my brain in that time.

Lately it's this one:

Recommend if you like quiet indie rock, lyrically insightful singer-songwriters, catchy melodies 🎶

Wow! This is excellent. And I love the music video for it that ya dropped.

Is this the same as the album version or is this just an unplugged version? Regardless, it's great!

Thanks so much for sharing!!

been listening to my playlist of vaguely ominous and chill tunes aptly titled "vaguely ominous"

Haha, aptly titled indeed. 😀

But, "vaguely ominous" sounds right up my alley.

I didn't make it to it today, but I'm gonna toss this playlist on first thing tomorrow AM. Appreciate the suggestion, Chris! 🙌

Bahhhh!

I completely forgot to tune into this until now. I can def say that I'm liking this first song on the playlist though - "Your Name" by Bernache ... very chill! I'm now following the playlist and gonna pop it back on tomorrow.

Also, I got a tune/band that I think would mesh well with this list. Who knows, maybe it'll make the cut! 😀

Check out Darkside ... here's one of my favorite tunes by them:

Also, The Midnight is awesome and seems like it might fit this list too. I recommend their album Monsters!

Ooooo awesome! I haven't really listened to much of Thom Yorke's solo stuff to be honest and I know it's great. I'm listening now and this is seriously cool... his voice is just so otherworldly.

Have you listened to any music by The Smile (band with Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead)? They've been dropping lots of interesting music videos/art since releasing their debut album A Light for Attracting Attention and it's all really interesting.

I loved this latest song of theirs called "The Same":

Aww thanks a lot! Really appreciate all the compliments. 😀

I'll definitely put together a SoundCloud account soon and get more stuff out there. So glad you like my beats! I know RJD2 and I'll take that comparison all day long, thank you very much!

And as for the band, yep, that's me on vocals! I have some solo stuff that's of the same nature. I'll be putting that out on Sound Cloud as well.

Again, thanks for the encouraging words. 😎

Oh nice!! I'm all about some pitch-shifted samples especially since I got hold of the Tascam 414 mkii. I end up playing the pitch wheel, detuning and tuning up to get different notes. 😀
