Email Marketing - A Powerful Tool for Your Business

One of the great ways to connect and engage with your customers is through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. However, people claim that email marketing is no longer staying effective and relevant due to the success of social media.

Stop listening to them because they are just misconceptions. Email marketing is still alive and well as one of the most effective and powerful techniques of marketing online and being in touch with your customers.

Definition of email marketing

First, you need to know what email marketing is, before moving on to the reasons why it is so useful in business.

When someone visits your website and thinks they are subscribing to your mailing list in order to stay in touch with you via email, this is referred to as email marketing. An email list like this is very important if you are selling a service or a product. Email marketing allows you to retain your customers, gain their trust, and promote your brand awareness while encouraging your followers to buy from you more often.

Email marketing has several advantages. While this is a great marketing tool, unfortunately, it seems to get a bad rap with a few companies, who don't fully understand it.

Some businesses find that people immediately consider finding an email from a stranger and deleting it, thinking badly about their business.

This can be true to some extent, mainly because companies haven't taken the time to nurture their list. Nonetheless, responsible marketing, and email marketing campaign can work exceptionally well for your business.

Email Marketing vs. Social Media Marketing

As explained earlier, social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are great ways to connect with existing and potential customers. They are ideal platforms for the word of mouth advertising, creating a strong connection with your current audience, and putting you in front of a new audience.

These two tools are necessary for your business. However, you cannot control who sees your updates or when they are seen.

Other than that, you can't completely control these connections because social media sites like Twitter, Facebook keep making changes without stating how they might affect the way you connect with your followers.

Social media sites don't give you the option to connect with people one-on-one because you can connect via email. Through email marketing, your promotional campaigns can be fine-tuned by you, while forming a list of people who show a genuine interest in whatever you offer.
