After the popularity of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, social login got popular. A lot of web and mobile applications adopted the social login, these all provide login over OAuth 2 protocol. After a few years OpenID initiative came into the picture and providers like Google, Yahoo, Myspace, and StackExchange started offering this, but due to the lack of data points and security flaws this declined, and providers like Google and Yahoo started offering OAuth login.
