I follow similar approach when documenting my work done throughout the year. Infact, i even wrote a script to extract information from it at end of the year during apraisals.

Unfortunately, prioritizing work visibility is not an activity that comes naturally to most folks.
One of the things I realized was that respect and appreciation is earned. Just because one can code well doesn't guarantee success.
This e-book has tips I wish I knew earlier in my career.
