How Do You Login?

Based on web login trends i.e captcha, MFA, strength meters, SSO, etc and the types of authentication, do you think the future of web authentication will remain in the browser?

I really hope the source of truth lives outside the browser, and does not require a fallible human in the loop every time. We are getting there with password manager integrations and WebAuthn but it's early days.. I used to work for an identity specialist company and we were always encouraging customers to use what they already had (in the form of corporate SSO/federation) rather than build yet another stovepipe full of customer data (especially with the risk involved!). I would also like to mention the Open Identity eXchange organisation (no affiliation), who are attempting to organise the various interests in this space into a co-ordinated set o standards... it's going to be a long haul but worth it!
