I think there is a definite tendency (speaking from personal experience) where people like to get good enough to know 'what they're doing' - without necessarily exploring 'could I be doing it better'. Then they are jumping onto the next thing that interests them without considering if they had the best implementation in the last thing they learnt.
So true! I wish there was an infographic.
