Not every browser extension is allowed in the app store, so sometimes you have to sideload one into your browser. Fortunately, Chrome and Edge make this process easy.
What you need:
- A trusted browser extension as a ZIP file
- Chrome / Edge web browser
🔺 Important: Do not load extensions from untrusted sources unless you have reviewed the code first.
Steps:
- Unzip browser extension to a place you won't move or delete
- Open Chrome / Edge
- Click the puzzle piece icon in the toolbar
- Click "Manage Extensions"
- Enable "Developer mode"
- Click "Load unpacked"
- Find and select the folder you unzipped before
The extension should now appear in your browser the same as anything you've installed from the store.
