what is the best project to show on a junior portfolio ?

In my experience, the best project is an authentic one. In my interviews, the projects that have generated the most interest and conversation are the ones I wrote to solve real problems in my life or the lives of friends and family. For example: an academic tracker for my teenaged sister that was customized to her specific needs and interests.
