Hello Dev.to Community! It's Friday, 13.10.2023, and it's a good time to share what bugs you have faced during the week.
We all know that development is far from a smooth journey; it's rife with obstacles and challenges that test our problem-solving skills. One of the best ways to grow as a developer is to learn from these challenges β both ours and others. So let's share some of our battles with bugs this week!
Guidelines:
- Be Specific: Mention the tech stack, context, and what led you to encounter the bug.
- Describe the Problem: Share the specific behavior or performance issues caused by the bug.
- Share the Solution: Briefly describe how you resolved it. Did you find an elegant fix or a temporary workaround?
- Key Takeaways: Are there any lessons learned or insights that others could benefit from?
- Code Snippets: If applicable, feel free to share code snippets but make sure to redact sensitive information.
- Be Respectful: Different skill levels are at play, so letβs be constructive and respectful with our comments and responses.
Happy debugging! π

I faced a bug earlier in the week...made my nose all stuffy and gave me a fever. Ooooo right, not that kinda bug...
Well, another bug that got me was the same one that got you... those pesky cover images never want to fall into place as they should. If you take a look at my Music Monday series, you'll see that I often use GIFs for cover images... it's tough to find GIFs that fit our aspect ratio of 1000:420. I always try to grab one that I think is going to be cropped nicely, but it doesn't always work out as expected and you can't trust what you see in the preview, you need to save (cross your fingers) and view the draft page to get an idea of what it'll look like.
Anyway, let me bring this one up with the team. You're not the first to point out that cropping cover images is occasionally inconsistent and weird!
Hope it will be fixed anytime soon :)
I'm going to have a public holiday this Monday, and I'll try to take a look and fix it on my own
Oh wow! That would be fantastic. Thanks a bunch Arthur. π
