What's your experience of using online freelancing platforms and which ones would you recommend?

I have worked on freelancer for some time. It was great plateform. :) Their Rating system for Bidder was great.
Also used Fiverr for hiring some SEO guys that was also easy to find people for getting tasks done.
I'm a bit skeptical of these, as it tends to cater to some questionable clientele who is normally just interested in the 'cheapest price' (a la Fiverr).
So, in an international market and dev knowledge being fairly accessible to anyone who wants it, it's probably a good fit for those who can work for $10-$20/hr.
I'm on Upwork and would recommend it. I rarely apply to jobs but fortunately receive job invitations from clients.
What I like about Upwork is you can bring in clients and just get deducted 3% from the your fee instead of the usual 20%. What's good about it is the clients will just get pay for the processing fee from their financial institution.
I've tried PeoplePerHour, Freelancer, Fiverr and Guru. I've had one client on Freelancer but never got any after.
i have used Upwork, it worked great. Provides both options hourly rate basis and fixed price project, the process was also smooth.

Tho it was ages ago when it was 'Elance.com' or smth like that 😉

oDesk and Elance merged back in 2013, creating Upwork.
Both were freelance leaders already, just to scale what Upwork became.
I only have Fiverr experience.
