It all depends on what's on the To-Do list of the unproductive day, but normally I'd just binge watch a series or finish a drawing. Most times I associate unproductive days with being tired or not im the right mind space, so I just take it slow for that day.

It's important to understand that unproductive days are ok too and good for the mind ๐Ÿ˜‰ Forcing work, failing, and later blame yourself will create an opposite effect ๐Ÿ˜‰

Definitely!

And it's important to assess why you feel unproductive too. That will help you see patterns and even help you plan ahead for unproductive (break) days.

Start a different project that has no relation to what Iโ€™m trying to do productively (if coding, do some writing). After a while, an ideal for the first project pops into my head and Iโ€™m productive in that area as well.

When itโ€™s really bad, go for a hike, walk, swim, etc. Sometimes I just need more physical activity to get the production going!

Usually when I have unproductive days it is because I am physically tired or mentally exhausted from so much work, now that everything is remote it is more noticeable and felt. Before home was my space to distract and relax from everything that had to do with work, now what I do is go out, walk for an hour or two while listening to music to distract me, so I try to lighten my thoughts and relax the tiredness.

For me , if my days unproductive , I understand that not all days are productive and what I was supposed to do on that day I would spread it over the next few days ( ie , if I tried my best to work and still couldn't )

Yeah, I sometimes do stuff that doesn't request creativity, like sorting files on pc, organizing emails, too... Stuff that just has been put aside for some time ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

I just see it as sign of a break. I step away from everything tech and focus on the other side of life, just to reboot and freshen up again.

I'd try to do things as not code related as possible. Like painting or playing piano, creative stuff essentially. As well as outdoor running.

I would recommend trying music composing/production, helps a lot to express a different side of creativity from personal experience โœจ Also running can do wonders, aka endorphins ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
