What kind of contact forms do you prefer?

The first option is to go minimal and leave just like a Twitter handle, email address, and phone on the site. This way the format of the conversation is been left purely to the visitor.

The other option is to use input forms, where the visitor can send an email without leaving the site. This way the site owner has the advantage to require specific fields, like name, email, phone, subject, and message.

Personally, I have never filled any of those mentioned in the 2nd case.

I always like to start conversations directly from my own email or social media accounts. This way it's easier to track them and I feel more secure the message actually has been sent.

Which approach do you like better and why?

Contact forms add another layer of complexity. You'll need a way to detect spam submissions, possibly an SMTP server. Leaving an email/phone number is good enough imo!

Personally, I like sending emails first, so I always go with having every way possible available to my customers.
