What are your recurring expenses as a developer?

Hosting cost for my blog, around ($2/month) and the domain name costs around $10 a year.

I use neocities for my non-business personal website. I don't have a business website — and the domain I want has a squatter on it. (Just checked, the squatter is gone! Expired August, 2021. Huzzah!)

My biggest recurring expense falls outside of the constraints of the question asked, which are technical books and a new computer every 2-3 years.

• Storage: 40$/y - losing my SSD/HDD is my biggest fear so I change them regularly
• Donation to associations/FOSS developper: at least 40$/y
• And simple domain without hosting only for mail: 20$/y

my current yearly expenses are $60 🤣

Domains : maybe 12-15$ a year.
6$ a month for a linode VPS.
Google One is around 20$ a year.
Reskilling :- Udemy,humble bundle, ebooks, is around 200$-700$ a year.

None of these. I keep these expenses as low as possible to save money for all the coffee I consume.

• Domain names at about $12/yr each on Google Domains
• GSuite at $6/m (in conjunction with a domain name, so I have my email as firstname@lastname.dev with Google's uptime)
• A membership to a tech community for like $350/yr that I keep forgetting to turn off (why does it renew in Feburary of all things?)

Otherwise I leverage free tiers of services and my grad school email to get student access despite getting my degree years ago... I think getting a grad cert after the degree made my university never turn off considering me an active student

I'm debating moving the email off GSuite and onto Hey since I don't use the fancier bits of GDrive, but I'm still on the fence.

10 servers, roughly $100/year.
