Disparity of web 2.0 and web 3.0

**

Introduction

**
While discussion on the differences and potential benefits of switching from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 has been around for years, many people still wonder “what is Web 3.0?” and “what advantage does Web 3.0 have over the traditional web 2.0 ?”.

**

What is Web 2.0?

**
Web 2.0 refers to the internet we all use today, which include the social media sites. This version of the internet is dominated by data-hungry firms who consider personal information as an acceptable trade for their services.

Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as a platform, and any attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.– Tim O’ Reilly.

Innovations that drove the growth of Web 2.0 were social networks and mobile-powered devices connecting to the internet. Besides interactivity, Web 2.0’s expansion included social connectivity and more user-generated content. So, users could create their own blog content.

What is Web 3.0

**
Web 3.0 is a decentralized internet applications operating on public blockchain networks. Decentralization is an essential component of the Web3 movement. Additionally, Web3 networks are permissionless, meaning that anyone can participate. Also, these public blockchains are censorship-resistant and immutable. Accordingly, nobody can block anyone else or restrict their access to the network. Web3 services feature integrated payments systems that facilitate payments from a web browser using a cryptocurrency wallet (peer to peer).

It's imperative we understand the difference between web 2.0 and web 3.0

web 3 vs web 2
Based on the issues surrounding user privacy/data breaches, Web 3.0 and blockchain will likely be the foundational technology that leads this progress at scale. let's look at some of the features.

**

Decentralization

**
Decentralized application is an application that is not hosted on a single server and not owned by a single entity or corporation.
Decentralization is one of the core preset of Web 3.0, There is no central authority controlling content and imposing indiscriminate censorship. The more decentralized a platform is, the more censorship-resistant it becomes.

Distributed

**
Web 3.0 is distributed which means it cannot be tied down to any location. Instead, they are hosted on many nodes (which can be as simple as someone’s bedroom computer) “distributed” across the internet. They work in a trustless fashion, assuming that every single node can be malicious or a “bad actor”

Permissionless

**
Unlike Web 2.0, Web 3.0 is permissionless, which means participants can interact without permission from a trusted intermediary or governing body.

The Web 3.0 is obviously the next-generation technology due the raising need for data privacy. Thanks to the use of open-source code and worldwide collaboration, innovative blockchain-based applications are developing at a rapid pace. Accordingly, a diverse range of Web 3.0 tools and services are emerging that have the potential to disrupt many industries.

With blockchain technology at the core of this ideal shift, Web3 technologies will reduce the concentration power held by major tech companies and put it in the hands of users.
