Watch out for the older MacBook probably not supporting UHD (or higher/wider) resolutions: using the new display at lower than its native resolution will result in upscaling and that won't be a pleasure for your eyes. There were also some models that did support UHD resolutions but only at 30Hz - IMHO not usable even for development.
