Content is at the heart of any website

As a web developer who worked in many agencies, I noticed the numerous requests for a website that only had a beautiful design in mind. Much more important, however, is the question: “What kind of content should the website display?”.

It's not just about adding placeholder text to fill in the design. The content must be unique and offer real added value for the visitor. It is best to write texts that appeal to your target group and underline them with meaningful pictures.

Content is at the heart of every page. Regardless of whether it is fixed text modules or dynamic content like in a forum. We must not forget why most people are online: They are looking for information. In my opinion: Web design only underlines the content.

Design and usability are important to your website

There is no second chance to make a first impression. You and I understand that the design of a website has to be well thought out if we are to build trust among our website visitors.

Design is important, but it is what you present that makes the difference. How your website looks and how well the content is presented to your visitors can determine whether they stay on your page or navigate to another page. And don't forget ease of use - it's key to any online business success. That includes making sure it's easy to find the information they're looking for.

Designs that are too hectic can be confusing for visitors - we want them to focus on what they need rather than get dragged into a design that isn't helping them. Strength lies in simplicity. A good web designer will be able to take the simplest of websites and turn them into something that can effectively reach a large audience.

A website has to have a goal, but marketing is just one of the many goals you can have

A website has to have a goal, but marketing is just one of the many goals you can have. Think about your business goal and how you can support this with a website. In many cases, my clients want to use their website as a marketing tool. There's nothing wrong with that, but online visibility is only part of what a website can deliver.

The website can also act as a digital solution for processes. The simplest examples are a direct table reservation or a customer portal. The possible solutions can be varied. It is important that you can offer solutions for your customers and, ideally, optimize your processes in daily business at the same time. So, another goal can be to save time and money.

Conclusion

In order to establish a successful online presence, you need to consider what kind of content your website should have. Build a functional and user-friendly web design around this content. Think about whether the website should be a pure marketing tool or whether you can establish it as a digital solution. Once you've worked out these steps, nothing stands in the way of a great online presence.
