🤗 LaunchDarkly is proud to be here at Codeland!

HELLO CODELAND, we are excited to be with you alongside the DEV and CodeNewbie community!

Writing software is hard, deploying it shouldn’t be. We believe you should be able to deploy software without risk. LaunchDarkly enables development and operations teams to deploy code at any time, even if a feature isn't ready to be released to users. Wrapping code with feature flags gives you the safety to test new features and infrastructure in your production environments without impacting the end users.

When you are ready to release more widely, simply update the flag status and the changes are made instantaneously by our real-time streaming architecture. Check out how easy it is to get started.

Got Questions? Let's chat!

We'll be hanging out at our DEV Connect channel from 7:00a - 7:00p PDT today. We'd love to answer any questions you have about LaunchDarkly, so please swing by :)

Want more information outside of our live chat? Visit our Docking Station anytime!

Do you like space puns?

We do too and we didn’t even planet that way. Join us for a ride to remember at our upcoming event - Trajectory LIVE! We kick off our out-of-this-world experience next week and keep it going through August. There are going to be some universally applicable talks about feature management, we’ll pull you towards progressive delivery with more force than a super-massive black hole, and engage your inner Voyager as we explore the new age of software development and delivery.

Did we mention it’s free? Just like watching a meteor shower...and we are expecting an equal number of bright sparks.

Good morning! LaunchDarkly piqued my interest because I've spent the last year managing and improving the home-rolled feature flagging system at my current job. This is a really interesting space! I'm currently a software engineer, but I've been looking to start to use more of my writing, speaking, and friend-making skills in a full-time role, so I'm going to apply for the Developer Advocate role :D

Hello Jess,
Thanks for being here! I like the mission of LaunchDarkly! A community that supports developer skills, updating flag status and changes instantaneously. Your system works perfectly when working with remote teams and peer programing.
I have a bachelors in Math and masters in Secondary Math. I have completed a Data Science certificate program and enjoyed working with SQL, R and Python so much that I enrolled in a Software Development boot camp.
As I enter our final projects, I am excited to find a company I can grow and learn within. I reviewed the job descriptions that relate to my goals but noticed they are all based out of California. Are there remote working opportunities for the current vacancies?

Hi Nichole! Thanks for coming over to say hi to us :) Currently our remote roles are for Developer Advocates in the US and Engineering in the UK (you don't have to be in London). Otherwise the team is looking for engineers in California, at this time.

BLUSHING HARD. Thank you, Sara! I'm so honoured to hear that!

I'm tweaking the video to put out on social media, so if you have any ideas for improving it, I'd love to hear them.

Hey CodeLand attendees! If you're here because you watched my talk, thanks so much!

I want to improve my talk to make it better, and easier to understand, but keep it at two minutes. If you can, please tell me one thing in the video that you would change, or that was not clear enough.

Thank you for all the feedback you give. I hope you enjoyed the video, and I'm happy to answer any questions about it!

Wow. I had never heard of feature flags. I'm early on my journey and still even learning how to use GitHub to organize my programs. I'll keep LaunchDarkly in mind. Thanks.

Hello LaunchDarkly!! Really cool seeing you here at CodeLand. I'm fascinated by your efforts to streamline the software development cycle with a vision for innovation and to enhance the user experience. I'm currently completing my programming bootcamp and seeking a jr. position with a preference in frontend dev. Would love to get in touch and learn more about your team!

Hi Jess! I just applied for the open Front End Engineer position, and I was curious what you think are the most important skills and qualities for applicants for this role? Is there anything someone can do to set themselves apart?

Good question! Those of us in this thread are (mostly) Developer Advocates rather than Front End Engineers, but I'll window.postMessage() a question for them and see what happens...

And here's what I got:

The most important qualities are collaboration and empathy. For front-end candidates we're also looking for a robust understanding of Javascript and CSS fundamentals.

I hope that's useful. Good luck with your application!
