Guess That Tech!

The Gist

Recently I've been having the good luck of accepting some code challenges, and have run into what feels like forgetting your dates name.

I've forgotten some of the tech stacks, but do not fear, we have sites other than Stack Overflow to look to for help. Although ultimately we do end up with some cool Stack Overflow graphs at the end of my list.

Basically, if you ever need help trying to understand which of your skills to polish as an interview with a company becomes more of a reality, this small list should lend you some big help.

The Where

1) Built With

Build lists of websites from our database of 35,270+ web technologies and over a quarter of a billion websites showing which sites use shopping carts, analytics, hosting and many more. Filter by location, traffic, vertical and more.

2) Similar Tech

Our proprietary technology scans more than 30 billion web pages per month. We monitor and analyze over 317 million domains to help companies get more data and make better decisions based on technology adoptions. SimilarTech was founded in 2014 as a result of a spin off of SimilarWeb, our unique data partner.

3) What CMS

WhatCMS.org looks at a variety of factors to determine which CMS a website is using. First, we fetch the webpage for the url in question then begin looking for indicators in the html markup and headers. Indicators range from the very obvious <meta name="generator" ...> tag or x-powered-by header to less obvious directory structures, asset files, JavaScript code and more.

4) Rescan

We provide lists of websites using different technologies. We also run a free website analysis tool. We update our lists at 16:00 UTC time (current UTC time: 02:00). You can compare your time zone with UTC here.
For some websites we provide emails along with the lists. We also provide Alexa rank, phones, website IP, web server type, codepage and country (if any).

5) StackOverflow Trends

See how technologies have trended over time based on use of their tags since 2008, when Stack Overflow was founded. Enter up to 15 tags to compare growth and decline.

6) StackOverflow Dev Survey

With nearly 90,000 responses fielded from over 170 countries and dependent territories, our 2019 Annual Developer Survey examines all aspects of the developer experience from career satisfaction and job search to education and opinions on open source software.

And so, we've come full circle
