Become a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador (MLSA)

Are you a student looking to achieve more? Grow your skills? Have an Impact on the communities around you? Then definitly the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program is for you. This is your opportunity to grow the skills you need to make a greater impact in the projects and communities that matter to you, and be a force for good.

The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program is an international community of passionate on-campus ambassadors dedicated to supporting students, empowering their communities, taking leadership roles in local tech circles, and fostering the development of technical and career skills essential for the future.

What's the Eligibility Criteria?
You must be at least 16 years old and actively enrolled in an accredited higher education academic institution. Students are trained in related technologies so diverse background folks are also encouraged to apply.

What are the perks of becoming a student Ambassador?
Student Ambassadors complete activities and make contributions to the community in order to progress through milestones and unlock additional benefits.

When to Apply?
Applications for the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program are accepted year-round and reviewed on a quarterly basis. This means that you have the flexibility to apply at any time, and the results will be announced in the following quarter.

How to Apply?
First, visit the Student Ambassadors Website (https://studentambassadors.microsoft.com/) and click on Apply now button on bottom right corner of the page.

It will lead you to a sign in page where you can sign in using your microsoft outlook mail or go to sign in options and sign in with GitHub.

Once you are siggned in, you will see the applications section, read all the privacy terms and confirm your eligibility.
Then proceed forward with the next section where you have to fill your Personal Informartion, provide links to your online social network and enter details of your Academic Institute.

Now you will be taken to Application Questions, this is the most important section of your application. You have to answer this section with one video and two written responses. Only one video (under 2 minutes) should be provided.

Welcome - We are looking for students who can provide an inclusive, accessible, and authentic environment to learn. Tell us about a specific time you welcomed a new person into one of your communities. How would you use that experience to be a better Student Ambassador?

Here, you can talk about yourself as a leader and mention any experience of yours where you are leading maybe a school project, or if you were a council member you can mention that experience, you might find yourself being involved in a social clubs in college, or you are involved in extra curricular activities maybe any sport or dance.
You are welcomed to write any experience of yours which dipicts your inclusive personality, the lively environment that you create when you are talking to someone who is new to your group project, or a junior council member, or welcoming first year students to your society, or maybe teaching your new team member a few dance moves or sport tricks.

Guide - We are looking for students who are driven to guide their peers in learning technical skills. Tell us about one specific technical skill you have learned, and how you were guided to learning it. How would you use that experience to be a better Student Ambassador?

Here, you are supposed to talk about one technical skill that you learnt, might be some programming language, or some developer tools anything, no matter how small or big.
The questions is asking you to take this experince of yours and put someone else in your position and yourself in the position of the person who is teaching you and convey how you would guide that person to learn the technical skill you have learned.

Connect - We are looking for students who have strong community ties and want to connect their communities to their peers. Tell us about a specific event you have planned that connected diverse audiences together. How would you use that experience to be a better Student Ambassador?

Here, you have to talk about your community. Community basically means the people around you with whom you learn and grow with.
You can tell about any event that you have helped plan in your school which brought inter school audiance together or in college which brought inter college people together. This way diverse audiance could connect with each other and build their networks.

These are just a few examples, you know your experince better than anyone else, write what flows and put your best self out there.

Few general tips?

  1. When answering the application questions, it is crucial to be genuine and transparent.
  2. Be sure to express your genuine passion for technology and convey what has inspired you in the most impactful way.
  3. Maximize your use of the word limit to provide comprehensive and detailed responses. (but do not exceed the limit)
  4. Ensure that in your answers you talk about your personal growth as well as growing the community around you, because MLSA is about learning and growing together through communities.
