we have already talked on many occasions about the popularity that Discord has reached, especially in the video game sector, however, we have not yet talked about the security measures offered by the platform to protect user data. In fact, Discord allows you to activate two-factor authentication to log in to your user account.

Discord users usually save personal and potentially sensitive information, especially because through this platform we can have conversations through chats. Many of these chats will be practically irrelevant, however, in many other personal or sensitive information can be shared that you do not want to end up in the hands of third parties.

To prevent sensitive information from your Discord account from ending up in the hands of third parties, the first thing we should do is improve the security of the login. As is evident, the first thing that every Discord user should do is use a password of more than 8 characters that includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

How to enable discord two step verification
What many Discord users know is that we can still improve the security of our account, activating Discord's two-step authentication which adds another layer of security. Once Discord's two-step verification is activated, in addition to requiring the user password, you will also have to use a random and expired code generated by third-party apps such as Google Authenticator.

That said, below, we want to show you step by step how to activate two-step verification in your Discord account to increase security and prevent third parties from accessing your user account if your login is stolen:

How to enable two-step authentication on your Discord account (Google Authenticator)
Open the Discord program or access the Web version of the platform.

Sign in with your user account.

Once inside your Discord account, you must click on the gear icon next to your username (bottom left of the interface)

This will take you to the Discord settings screen.

Here you have to go to the option: My Account.

Now you will see how the Two-Factor Authentication section is displayed in the main part of the screen.

In this section you will have to click on the button: Enable two-factor authentication .

In order to activate it, you will have to enter the password of your Discord user account.

This will cause a pop-up window to open displaying the QR code as well as the manual activation key.

At this point, you will need to scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app or enter it manually.

Once the new security code generator for Discord is added, you must use the code shown and valid for 30 seconds to enter it in the QR code screen that is displayed in Discord.

Next line you will have to click on the button: Activate.

From this moment on, the two-step verification will be activated and therefore, in order to access your Discord user account you will have to use the Google Authenticator security codes in addition to the user password.
