What are your thoughts on codeless automation?

Record and Playback automated testing has been around for decades. For me, all of it has proven to be a lower ROI because of a higher maintenance cost over coded automation test suite/framework.

Yes there are companies that are building "A.I." enabled automated codeless entities which might pan out to be a massive game changer. But no matter what, when it comes down to creating a value add automated test suite, it comes down to the person(s) responsible for defining what to test.
